In 2021, officers drafted 23-year-old Vitaly Vasilyev from Chuvashia, seized his ID, and reissued it as a contract file. On Feb 24 2022, they gave his unit rifles, grenades, and opiate pills, loaded them into tanks near Kursk, and ordered them to invade Ukraine.
