One man told me his parents who evacuated to Ukraine said neighbors were given passage to the Donetsk People's Republic after their Mariupol houses burned down. Pro-Russians are pushing the line that people are being saved. Russian journalists recently arrived in Mariupol, likely to push a similar line.
