In many ways, such atrocities stem from years of Putin’s regime dehumanizing Ukrainians or labeling them as “wrong Ukrainians” unwilling to submit. It’s a narrative that portrays Ukrainians as nothing but Nazis, pigs, subhumans, not a real nation, and so on.
