Russia wouldn’t be on its first lie. It’s possible that there were no prisoners on board this plane and that Russia will use the incident to get rid of some of them, as it did in Olenivka in 2022. Russia isn’t one to shy away from crimes.

Out of fear of sounding like a fool but above all out of caution, I won’t put forward any particular theory. Perhaps it’s friendly fire. Perhaps the Ukrainians destroyed this plane like any other aerial target in the Belgorod region. Patience.

RFERL: Kyiv did not comment on whether there were Ukrainian POWs on the plane, but Andriy Yusov from the Main Intelligence Directorate, confirmed to @RFERL that a prisoner exchange was scheduled for January 24 and was "currently not taking place."
