Today in Kharkiv Russia's missiles hit one of Ukraine's biggest publishing houses – Vivat, killing seven and wounding 16 people. Vivat's destroyed printing house Faktor Druk was the facility where not just Vivat, but other major Ukrainian publishers'd been printing their books.
as a Ukrainian writer, words fully fail me to channel all the pain, despair and generational trauma torment triggered by looking at another pile of Ukrainian books burnt by russian culture. this is the purest form of evil this planet can produce.
Millions of Ukrainian books have been turned to ashes by the Russians in the last two years, so that in the future someone might say, 'Wow, Russian literature is so great—how come no Russian neighbor managed to produce anything like that?'
