Church organisations were founded as KGB fronts. KGB files found in Estonian archives in 1991 showed that Russian Orthodox Patriarch Alexey II worked for the KGB as agent DROZDOV (Thrush), receiving an honorary citation for his activities including infiltrating the WCC.
