The region has been focus of combat since 2014. Lets not forget that Russian backed separatists once held Sloviansk & Kramatorsk & that the Debatlseve offensive in 2015 was meant to retake Sloviansk. The only facepalm worth mentioning is after 9 years Russia still can’t succeed.
