Valeriya "Nava" Karpylenko was a teacher at the University of Mariupol and a poet. When her city was invaded, she joined the Azov Regiment. During the siege of Azovstal, Valeriya and Andriy married. Andriy was killed three days later and Valeriya was captured. She was released in a prisoner swap on April 10.
