The case is part of an apparent surge in weapons smuggling along the Russian-Ukrainian border. It was also reported on 19 April that border guards near the Kuibyshevo-Avtodorozhny checkpoint found a cache of 12 F-1 and 5 RGD-5 grenades, and 15 UZRGM fuses.
