After Bakhmut, Wagner less vital for Russian army

After Bakhmut, the military was far less dependent on Wagner. People often conflated Bakhmut with the entire Russian winter offensive and Wagner’s role as though it were omnipresent on the front. In reality, it was quite limited, and Wagner was not deployed for defense in the south.
