The Russian Defense Ministry accused the United States of an attack by the Ukrainian armed forces on the annexed Sevastopol. The agency claims that five ATACMS missiles were launched at the city, four of which were shot down by air defense systems, and that the detonation of the fragment-bodied warhead of the fifth American missile in the air led to numerous casualties among civilians and infrastructure.
