The Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church retired Metropolitan Hilarion of Donetsk and Mariupol of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate. A bishop from Russia was sent to replace him, according to the website of the Russian Orthodox Church. More than 30 bishops participated in the decision.
