The story of Bohdan Kovalchuk and other civilian hostages was shared by hromadske in June. From Yasynuvata, the boy tried to reach his grandmother in Dzerzhynsk (now Toretsk) to finish school and obtain a Ukrainian diploma. He was detained at a checkpoint.
