Russian state’s five-century history: a relentless cycle of war and violence

i do not think most people abroad realise this but throughout the five-century history of russian state it almost never had a period without waging a war. it is an empire forged in and sustained by neverending violence. if it doesn’t kill, it doesn’t exist.
