Ukraine has been using three American AIM missile variants on F-16s and ground-based NASAMS systems for several years. Their main advantages are the "fire-and-forget" capability of the AMRAAM and different guidance systems that make them resistant to electronic warfare (EW) jamming. They are also highly effective against drones and cruise missiles.
