'Flag-sticking' is the practice of sending a small group of soldiers to carry a Russian flag to a Ukrainian-held settlement, unfurling it prominently to be filmed by a Russian drone for a commander's video report to superiors. This allows the commander to falsely claim the capture of the settlement.
