War doesn’t only destroy homes, it also leaves lasting psychological strain. In Kharkiv Oblast, people forced to evacuate from frontline areas are receiving psychological support as they leave their communities after ongoing shelling and displacement. DSNS psychologists work at evacuation points across several communities, helping residents cope with stress, anxiety, and the shock of sudden displacement. “Leaving your home because of war is a difficult ordeal. Our task is to give people a sense that they are not alone, to listen, and to help them find inner strength.” Leaving home under fire is a traumatic experience, and support at this stage can be as important as physical safety – helping people stabilize, process what they’ve lived through, and take the next steps forward. 📷Ukraine’s Emergency Services (DSNS)
