Wildfires are spreading through Ukraine’s Chornobyl exclusion zone, where more than 1,100 hectares have burned as dry weather, strong winds, and mine contamination slow firefighting efforts. Some forest areas remain inaccessible due to unexploded ordnance left from Russia’s occupation, forcing emergency crews to limit operations in high-risk zones. Across northern Ukraine, fires are also burning in other regions, with the total affected area exceeding 2,000 hectares. Firefighters, supported by drones, robotics, and demining teams, are working across multiple fronts to contain the blazes under difficult wartime conditions. 📷DSNS
