China’s Russian crude oil purchases fund Ukraine war and energy security

China's purchases of Russian crude oil supplied Moscow with hundreds of billions of dollars of revenue for the war in Ukraine. Since the Hormuz crisis, those purchases have become even more important for China's own energy security — 40% of its oil imports transit the strait.
