2) Ukraine is filled with people that are prepared to kill and die to resist occupation. There's around 40 ish million Ukrainians still in Ukraine, and they've got a stronger will to fight/resist their invader than any population I've ever seen.

Why is this? Let's look at a few basic military realities facing the Russians. 1) Ukraine is huge, and has numerous large urban areas. This makes it both a) logistically challenging to operate in (and Russian logistics are already awful) and b) difficult to occupy.
