One of the most horrific story we heard repeatedly from soldiers who liberated towns was of them finding young boys & girls with their hands tied behind who had been raped and tortured. The soldiers wept as they talked about removing nails from the kids' arms and fingernails.
In many if not most towns, the enemy sets up torture chambers to terrorize the population. Men, women and children are tortured and killed there. Names of those who know they will be killed and do not want to be forgotten are etched on the walls, sometimes in blood.
